Our Mission

METRO Blue Santa’s mission is to help children.  We will leverage our public positions as police officers and employees of the Metropolitan Transit Authority to provide assistance for and bring cheer to hospitalized children during the winter holiday season.  We will help build public trust in our profession and our employer through these efforts.

Our Vision 

METRO Blue Santa’s mission is to help hospitalized children.  When considering that a child’s family is often financially stressed by having to care for a hospitalized child, that sometimes those children have lost family in accidents, have suffered a great deal under their ailments, their outlook for a happy holiday season is bleak at best.  METRO Blue Santa’s vision is to change that for as many children as possible, and to grow these efforts to reflect a city population the size of Houston.  We will leverage our positions as police officers and METRO employees in a positive manner, encouraging our fellow employees, partners and citizens to be involved through contributions and volunteer work.


Welcome to METRO Blue Santa!

Police Departments over the globe have Blue Santa programs to benefit disadvantaged children.  The Metro Police Department of Houston has had such a program for many years.  We have delivered toys, bicycles, food, and Holiday cheer to many families over that time.

This program has now been expanded to include the entire Metropolitan Transit Authority in order to showcase our entire organization, our friendly people, and to maximize our reach to families and children in our community.  This expansion has been well received throughout the organization, to include the METRO Board, the President and CEO George Greanias, Chief of Police Victor Rodriguez, as well as the bus and rail operators, facilities and maintenance personnel, and support staff.

METRO Blue Santa is a registered DBA through Harris County, is certified by the IRS as a public charity 501(c)(3) organization, and is a certified tax exempt charitable organization with the State of Texas Comptroller's Office.  Contributions to METRO Blue Santa are tax deductible.
